Don and Becky have both been very active in their community and parishes both after they joined St. Francis Xavier, as well as their parishes in Wyoming before moving to Wisconsin. Don has been a Knight of Columbus for 50 years. As a Knight in Wyoming, Don served as a State Deputy, the States Highest Office, as well as all other State Officer Roles. He established the Knights of Columbus Charity Trust to support retiring Priests in the Cheyenne Diocese and chaired it for 10 years. He helped to start a new Council in a neighboring Parish town and supported all other charitable events for the Council. In Cross Plains he has assisted in the Mothers Day Brunch, Pulled Pork Project, and other charitable events. At St. Francis Xavier specifically, Don just retired as the Care Team Coordinator which he had done for the past eight years. And just last year Don retired from a part time job in the larger community, to assist the elderly and homebound in their homes. Becky raised their small children and then began teaching in 1974. When her and Don transferred to Casper, she taught 5th Grade, Music, and Middle School Science at various times at St. Anthony Tri-Parish School. She retired from there in 2011 and continued to get calls to substitute teach. Becky was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for Science Education by the State of Wyoming. She also taught CCD, Confirmation, and Baptism classes at their Wyoming Parishes, directed many Children’s Choirs, and was co-ordinator for parish music for 10 years. At St. Francis Xavier, Becky started volunteering to tutor, and has been substituting since they lived here. She is currently doing a long term sub job, as well as working the after school program several times per week. This year marks the 50th year she has been involved with schools as a teacher or a substitute. Congratulations and thanks to Don and Becky for all you do, and for being named Family of the Month for the Knights of Columbus Cross Plains Council #3924.
