Richard and Kim have been married for twelve years and have four children, Eva, Sam, William and Ignatius (Iggy). They have been members at St. Mary in Pine Bluff since 2018, when their children joined St.Peter school. They live in Monroe. Kim started working at St. Mary in 2022 and is now the Office Manager at St. Francis Xavier. She also cantors in the Christ the King Pastorate as well as joining the St. Mary choir this past year. As a family Kim and Richard’s kids are busy behind the scene, altar serving, singing in choirs, and helping their father clean up after storm damage occurred in multiple Pastorates under the motto: “have truck, will travel”. Richard retired from the Army, and the family was stationed in many areas around the world including Korea (4 years). He first joined the Knights of Columbus in the service, and is now in the first stage of Diaconate in the Diocese of Madison. He’s been active in That Man is You and for the past two years, on the leadership team at St. Clare Assisi in Monroe. In addition Richard home schools their three youngest children, co-leads Edge Youth Ministry, developed an altar server training, participated in Eucharistic small groups, and is a reader for Mass. Kim was a Youth Minister leading EDGE and LifeTeen while stationed at Camp Humphreys, Korea. She was also a Platoon Mom for Richard’s platoon of +200 young soldiers at their first duty station overseas, far from home. She and Richard were also active helping Filipina women trafficked to Korea, to leave their situation, and they worked with safe houses, while they navigated legal paperwork, and collected food and clothing for them and their children. They have also provided safe houses for victims of domestic violence, and their families, when they leave their abusers. As a family they enjoy the outdoors, family game nights, and Korean home cooking. They are very glad to have settled down here in southern Wisconsin. Congratulations Kim and Richard for being great examples and our August Family of the Month for the Knights of Columbus Cross Plains Council #3924.
